Friday, March 16, 2018 29 Adar 5778

8:00 PM - 11:59 PMOhav Shalom - 270 West 84th Street

We are privileged and honored to host Rabbi Yonatan Magazzinich, together with his family, as our Scholar-in-Residence on Shabbat Vayikra, March 16, 2018.  That is a special Shabbat when we not only start a new Sefer but also celebrate Rosh Hodesh Nisan and the first day of the Mitzva of Bircat Hailanot, a blessing for the flowering of trees in the Spring.

We will have a Community Dinner on Friday night, March 16. Registration is available on our website: https://www.wsssynagogue.com/event/communitydinner318

Rabbi Yonatan is a Talmid Chacham, and a dynamic speaker who regularly appears in events throughout the New York area.  He received his semicha at Kollel Yechaveh Daat under Chacham Ovadia Yossef zt’l and his son Chacham David Yossef. Rabbi Yonatan also attended Mercaz Hatorah in Jerusalem, studied at the Mir Yeshiva, and taught at  Eshel, a Sephardic seminary for women.

Rabbi Yonatan is originally from Toronto. After his studies in Israel, he moved back there to found the local chapter of "GoSephardic," together with his wife Julie, who is a scholar of her own. GoSephardic is a Sephardic outreach organization for young adults and young professionals. The Magazzinich now head the New York area GoSephardic chapter, and live in Far Rockaway with their three children.

We look forward to a warm and spiritual Shabbat together!
